Free Work Order Template (PDF)

A work order is the one piece of paper that follows a job from the phone call to the invoice. This is the version I used running a plumbing office — dispatch fills out the top, the tech fills out the middle on site, and the office bills off the bottom. Fillable on a phone or tablet, or print a stack for the truck.

Common questions

What's the difference between a work order and an invoice?
The work order authorizes and records the job — who's going, what they found, what they used. The invoice is the bill you build from it afterward. Keep them separate and your job costing stays honest.
Can my techs fill this out on a phone?
Yes. The PDF has real fillable fields, so they can type in it and email it back, or you can print a stack and keep them in the truck.
Is a work order the same as a repair order?
Same document, different name. Some shops say repair order, some say service ticket. This form covers all of it — diagnosis, repair, install and maintenance visits.
Do I need a signature on it?
Get one every time. A customer signature on the work performed section is what ends the argument when someone calls back three weeks later and says the work was never done.
